... avec qui j'ai parlé samedi soir via un Skype fluctuant. Tout d'abord, le voyage s'est bien passé. Je vous laisse lire la prose de Patricia décrivant son départ de Genève. Au passage, un grand merci à Nicole qui a emmené Patricia à l'aéroport et a pris ces photos sur le dépose-minute.		... I talked with on Saturday night (not fever) with a fluctuating Skype. First of all, the trip was good. I let you read Patricia's prose describing her departure from Geneva. "Départ avec mon amie Nicole l’aéroport. Une légère couche de neige nous accompagne. L’arrivée au dépose minute est plus rapide que prévue principalement dû à une personne derrière impatiente. J’enveloppe mon sac à dos dans mon sursac et j’enregistre mon sac quand l’hôtesse m’annonce que le vol aura du retard et que mon petit sac à main 😊 ne sera peut-être pas accepté en cabine car l’avion est complet et qu'il serait préférable de le mettre en soute. Ayant toute ma vie dedans, je refuse et je tente quand même de l'emmener. En fait, c’est parce que les gens emmènent d’énormes valises, qu’il n’y a pas de place mais cela n’a pas posé de problème. J’étais assis à côté de 2 éthiopiens qui vivent en Europe."		"Departure to airport with my friend Nicole… and a bit snow on the roads. The arrival at "Kiss & Fly" is faster than planned mostly because of an un pleasant guy in a particular rush. I put my backpack in my sleeping bag cover and do the check-in, when the stewardess informs me that the flight might be late and my tiny hand bag 😊might not be accepted on board. The flight is full and I am advised to put it as checked baggage. I have all my life in it. Of course, I refused and try anyway to take it with me. In fact, some people take huge luggage on board. That's why there is poor room but in my case, I didn't have any trouble with my handbag. I was sitted next to 2 Ethiopian men living in Europe".

Pour décrire ses premières heures sur le sol éthiopien, comme si vous y étiez, je laisse encore une fois la parole à Patricia.		To describe her first hours on Ethiopian floor, like you would be there, I let again Patricia "speak".
"À l’arrivée, Il est possible de changer de l’argent avant le passage en douane même à 1 heure du matin ce qui est bien pratique. Dans certains pays soit c’est fermé soit cela se passe après avoir récupéré les bagages ce qui n’est pas trés rassurant quand on ne connaît pas le pays. Pour aller à mon logement, j’ai pris un taxi JAUNE et là aussi c’est très pratique et facile. En sortant, En contre bas il y a les taxis qui attendent et une personne vient vous voir pour vous demander votre hôtel. Il sort son cahier, cherche votre hôtel et vous annonce un prix fixe. Après avoir désigné mon chauffeur et chargé mes bagages, me voici sur les routes presque désertiques d’Addis Abeba. Quelques minutes plus tard, j’arrive à l’hôtel au son de la mosquée. La chambre est simple mais correcte.”		"At the arrival, it is possible to change money before customs, even at 1:00 am. It is very handy. In some countries it is closed or you have it AFTER the baggage claim and it is not very reassuring, when you don't know the country. To go to my guest hourse, I took a YELLOW cab and there too, it's very handy and easy. The taxis are further down the airport exit. They wait. Someone comes to you to ask you the name of your place or hotel. He takes a note book, looks for your hotel and gives you a fix price. After appointing a driver and put my luggage in the car, I am on Addis Abeba roads, where there is fast NOBODY. Some minutes later, I arrive at my hotel with the Mosque sound. The room is simple but correct".
La suite ? C'est simple. Patricia, après s'être installée, a… DORMI ! Après toutes ses semaines intenses de préparation et les horaires du vol, il lui fallait bien une bonne dose de sommeil pour finir sa nuit.		Next? Simple, Patricia, after getting set, has… SLEPT!. After all those intense past weeks of preparation and the flight schedule, she needed a good dose of sleeping.
Anecdote croustillante… Après quelques bonnes heures de repos, Patricia a quitté sa chambre pour prendre son premier repas. Elle avait oublié de mettre sa montre à l'heure locale. Elle demande donc à la réception l'heure qu'il est. Surprise quand elle entend "16h00" ! De prime abord, elle a pensé "j'ai super bien dormi !"... avec quand même un gros doute. Le cuisinier de l'hôtel passait par-là et a lu ce gros doute sur son visage. Il a rectifié "Non, il est 10h00". Patricia interloquée. Elle apprend alors qu'en Ethiopie, il y a deux manières de compter les heures : l'heure officielle, qui, avec ces deux heures de décalage horaire, relie le pays au reste du monde, et puis il y a l'autre heure... la locale, qui est comptée à partir du coucher du soleil, sur la base de deux cycles de 12 heures : ke genou (de la journée) et ke meshetou (de la soirée).		Funny anecdote…. After a good and deep rest, Patricia left her room for a first meal. She had forgotten to change her watch to local time. She asks to the reception clerk. Surprise when she hears "4:00 pm"! First of all, she thought "I had really a good sleep!"...but with a big doubt however. The chef of the hotel passed by and saw Patricia's face. He rectified "No, it's 10:00 am". Patricia on hold! She learns then that in Ethiopia, there are two ways of counting hours : the official time with two hours ahead of time difference that connects the country with the rest of the world, and there is the another way... the local way, that counts the hours from sunset on the base of two 12-hour cycles : ke genou (day) and ke meshetou (night).
De même, le comptage des années n'est pas le même. Le Nouvel An éthiopien, c'est le 11 septembre et l'année se compte en 13 mois et 5 jours, soit un décalage de 8 ans avec notre calendrier solaire.		Likewise, the year counting is not the same than the rest of the world. The Ethiopian New Year Eve is on September 11th and the year has 13 months and 5 days, i.e. 8 years difference with our solar calendar.
Il faut le savoir, n'est-ce pas ? Patricia a de petites emplettes à faire : entre autres, acheter ses bouteilles de gaz pour son réchaud. Elle a promis de nous faire des photos pour vérifier si elles sont différentes là-bas.		Patricia has to do some shopping. Among other things, buy gas bottles for her portable stove. She promised to take photos so that we can verify whether they are different or not from ours.
Ensuite, RDV avec Ayni dans les locaux de ICN. Patricia fera la connaissance de l'équipe et, en tous cas, de l'une de nos protégées, Genet.		Then, meeting with Ayni in ICN premises. Patricia will meet the team and, for sure, one of our protegees, Genet.
